Why I Started A Mobile IV Therapy Company in Tampa

When I started Oasis IV Therapy in 2022, I didn’t have a bulletproof business plan or scheme to make money. My 10 years of nursing experience taught me that what people care most about is personalized care and feeling better quickly.

For the first nine years of my career, I was fully immersed in the traditional nursing role. This is everything you imagine it to be – from dealing with patients to writing reports.

Anyone who’s a nurse will tell you that it’s not an easy job. It can require you to work 60 hour weeks sometimes and leaves you awake at crazy hours.

I reached a point where I felt exhausted and burnt out from the constant pressures of bedside care. And at a certain point I thought to myself, “If I really care about my patients, why not start a business and help them more personally?”

So in 2022 I started Oasis IV Therapy and did just that.

But Why Mobile IV Therapy?

Whenever you start a business you should ask yourself what you’re already good at doing.
For me personally, this was working with patients and giving care to them one-on-one. It was also administering IVs to patients, only this time it would be in their own homes.

I noticed that almost every IV Therapy company in Tampa had an office you had to schedule an appointment for and physically drive to.

But many of our patients we treated in hospitals didn’t have the luxury of driving 20 minutes to get IV therapy done – meaning this was a huge market that wasn’t being hit.
I had a car and I knew what I was doing with administering IV, so why not just drive to people at their own schedule?

The convenience and personal care aspect was totally missing. And since the hospitality and healthcare business is incredibly personal, why not make it work for others?

Not only that – but people want IV therapy for different reasons!

It’s for that reason we have a menu for IV drips our customers can choose from, whether they want recovery from dehydration or immunity defense, we offer it.

Learning to Run a Business Can Be Challenging

Starting Oasis IV Therapy was a huge mindset shift from being just a nurse.

I had to learn about business from scratch, which as a nurse was daunting at first. I knew nothing about managing finances, marketing, or organizing business documents.

To bridge this gap, I joined the South Tampa Chamber and learned about the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Hillsborough County.

The Florida SBDC has been instrumental in my growth as a business owner.

They’ve helped me with financial planning, marketing strategies, and much more—essentially all those critical aspects of running a business that are necessary but not always enjoyable.

With their guidance, my business has seen a consistent increase in sales and client engagement.
Since then, I’ve hired team members like Alie Kensett and others to help run the business and grow month over month.

What’s Our Growth Strategy?

Our strategy has never relied on fancy marketing gimmicks or a ton of paid ads. Most of our clients already know who we are or are referred to us by others.

One of the most rewarding aspects of running Oasis IV Therapy has been the trust and loyalty of our clients.

Having a significant number of repeat clients is a testament to the effectiveness and value of the services I provide. It shows me that what I am doing is genuinely appreciated and makes a difference in people’s lives.

Starting Oasis IV Therapy has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding decisions of my life.

It has allowed me to reinvent my career, pursue my passion for holistic care, and maintain the core essence of being a nurse.

Our mission has never been to make a quick buck – it’s been to build meaningful relationships with our clients and help them the best we can.

That’s why I’m thrilled to continue this journey, helping people feel their best, one house call at a time.

What Advice Would You Give to Other IV Clinics Around the Country?

To anyone considering starting their own business, especially in the healthcare field, I highly recommend connecting with resources like the SBDC or whatever organization is in your local area.

There’s a lot about running a business that you might not be aware of, and having expert guidance can make all the difference.

When you first start a business you’ll probably get hounded by digital marketing agencies and freelancers claiming they can make you more money.

But as we’ve learned in the last few months, what works best is word of mouth and sharing stories publicly.

The only piece of advice I can give you is that you should be doing good work and treating clients with respect.

It’s how we’ve generated over 100+ 5 star reviews for our Tampa location and it’s the reason why we continue to grow at the rate we do.

It all comes down to competence and letting your work tell the story for you.
